Years 1 and 2: In the 1st 2 years students undertake modules covering the following subjects: lighting design and principles; the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) 16th Edition Wiring Regulation; live sound engineering; video and image technology; event management, production and lighting design; business and health and safety issues, as well as the touring industry; flying and rigging design and temporary structures. Year 3: in the final year students undertake advanced modules in live sound engineering, lighting design and performance; the final year provides students with the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, working together in a simulated industry environment.

This course has been developed after consultation with the industry and practitioners; it provides students with high-level technical skills and industry knowledge, combined with creative abilities in live event technology (including sound, lighting design and engineering), as well as event production (including theatre, conferences, performances and festivals); graduates may also be qualified to the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) 16th Edition Wiring Regulations.
