An introduction to the theory and practical skills of molecular biology is followed by a more advanced course on the theory and techniques of molecular biology; in parallel there are a series of research seminars, introducing the parasitology research being undertaken in Glasgow; each research group leader undertakes 2 consecutive sessions with students, which take the form of a research seminar, followed by student examination of a related piece of published work and presentation to the class; these seminars continue on a weekly basis throughout semester 2 and 3, ie to the end of the Master's programme; the programme has 2 major research projects in which applicants put into practice the molecular skills they have acquired in the taught sections of the programme; the programme has been arranged so that students only attending the core teaching may obtain a PgCert in molecular parasitology; and for the core teaching plus one project, a PgDip.

2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent (GPA of 3.0 or above) in a relevant subject; professional experience considered.

This programme is aimed primarily at parasitologists who have not had the opportunity to learn molecular biology before and apply this to parasitological problems; the programme encompasses the biochemistry, genetics, cell biology and molecular biology of parasites of humans and animals.

Расположение

Глазго является самым крупным городом Шотландии, а также городом Шотландии, где проживает наибольшее количество студентов. Два кампуса Университета находятся в Глазго и сочетают плюсы компактного расположения всех зданий университета и проживания в большом городе.
