This programme is designed to give students the skills to develop their work to a high professional standard, while encouraging their individual creative thinking; the structured introduction to painting grounds students in drawing, colour, pictorial organisation and the fundamentals of painterly practice; these enable students to produce confident, ambitious and well-made work; participants are encouraged to develop their work in the studio, and take inspiration from visits to museums and galleries within the United Kingdom and Europe; drawing is central to the course and may be encouraged as a practice in its own right; as well as developing their talent, there are regular opportunities for students to exhibit their work in the University galleries and installation spaces as well as other venues in Britain and abroad.
