This programme aims to train teachers who are confident in all settings, particularly urban and inner-city schools; students train for 2 consecutive key stages, either 3-7 years or 5-11 years; although students are expected to specialise in teaching either 3-7 years or 5-11, they have an opportunity to observe and engage in structured experience across the full primary range; this programme is run in partnership with schools and students spend a minimum of 18 weeks in a primary school; the full-time programme requires students to be available for classes and school experience each weekday; the programme is also offered in a flexible mode, which offers an individual training plan building on student's existing skills, knowledge and experience, while seeking to accommodate their other commitments; aims of the programme: To develop practical knowledge and theoretical understanding to work with primary school children; to train students to teach in 2 consecutive stages (Foundation and Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 1 and 2) with an understanding of the National Curriculum and learning needs of children from Foundation stage to Key Stage 3; to develop professional values and practice needed to meet the broad demands teaching.
