Вступительные требования

Mathematics. This is merely an indication of required background knowledge. The admissions board determines whether the specific contents of this/these course(s) meet the admission requirements of the bachelor programme for which you applied. Secondary education equivalent to Dutch pre-university education is required. This is merely an indication of the required general level of applicants' previous education. If not directly admissible: We offer a foundation year for students who do not meet the admissions requirements, in association with the Holland International Study Centre. The Foundation year will help you develop your academic skills and English language to the required standard, after which you can progress to the first year of your Bachelor's programme. Proof of English proficiency is required: TOEFL IBT score of 92, a TOEFL CBT score of 237, a TOEFL PBT score of 580, an IELTS score of 6.5, a CAE or CPE certificate.

Mathematics is a multifaceted subject. Applied Mathematics focuses on using mathematics to model and simulate practical situations. If you are interested in calculations that are placed in a technical context, this is the degree programme for you. Whereas the Mathematics degree is concerned with abstract matters, the emphasis in the Applied Mathematics programme is on the mathematics behind practical applications. One example is computing the flows of water, air or blood. Other examples are operating systems for robots, aeroplanes and satellites. The ability to think in an abstract way is still important – when you study Applied Mathematics, you also learn how to structure your reasoning and draw conclusions. The University of Groningen is one of the few universities which offers degree programmes in both Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. Year 1 is largely the same for both Bachelor's programmes, after which you gradually work towards your specialisation.
