Accounting Year 1: The economic environment of business; business law; accounting techniques; microeconomics; quantitative methods for business; and skills for accountants. Year 2: Cost and activity management; financial statements; management and marketing; performance management; principles of corporate finance; employability and entrepreneurship. Year 3: Optional work placement or study abroad year. Final year: Advanced corporate reporting; the practice of auditing; corporate governance; international accounting; strategy management accounting; students also take a dissertation or study optional modules including management decision making, strategic cost management and taxation.

Accounting provides students with a sound basis for progression to careers in accounting or with an accounting bias, as well as for careers in general management; it also affords a good preparation for professional accounting qualifications; accounting as a major subject provides subject exemptions from the examinations of 2 of the UK professional bodies: the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA); tourism affords students a balanced view of tourism as a business in addition to equipping students with essential graduate skills; it provides an understanding of the impacts that tourism has economically, socially and environmentally on both a domestic and international scale; the programme is supported by a wide range of extra curricula activities, from guest speakers from various tourism bodies and organisations, to residential field trips in the UK, Europe and Africa.

Расположение

Здания Университета располагаются в городах Хатфилд и Сент-Олбанс, а также в Бейфордбери (сельская полевая станция и обсерватория в пригороде Хетфорда).
Студенческий городок Havilland, инвестиции в строительство которого составили £120 миллионов, был открыт в октябре 2003 года. На этом кампусе проходят занятия по гуманитарным дисциплинам, педагогике и предпринимательству.
Университет связан с остальными Британскими городами отличной системой автомобильных и железных дорог и находится всего в 25 минутах езды на поезде от лондонской станции King’s Cross, являющейся также и станцией метро.
