Year 1: Students give a strong underpinning in business, with insights into the industry and public relations. Subjects also include conferences, festivals and events, marketing, decision-making tools, and the option to study advertising principles, international business and culture, or a language. Year 2: Students build on this foundation, exploring legal aspects, entrepreneurship, and the management of people, customers and the media. Subjects also include: customer relationship management, employability, event practice, financial information for managers, and the option to study cross-cultural management, media relations or a language. Year 3: Optional work placement. Final year: This year takes a strategic approach, looking at managing risk and uncertainty and managing media and communications; subjects also include: business strategy, and a practical project; there are optional modules on the experience economy, festivals and tourism, or a language.

Studying event management gives students the skills, knowledge and expertise necessary to enter a career in event management; students work on a live project, giving them hands-on experience, and with guest speakers and field trips, students develop an understanding of how to manage events within different areas, such as sports, tourism, arts and theatre.
