Year 1: Students establish core skills and gain a strong understanding of the creation of digital image and sound, the principles of interactive multimedia and contemporary practices seen from a wider cultural perspective; students explore the impact of digital technologies on people’s lives and, through your project work, examine the role of aesthetics in shaping ideas and use testing strategies to establish fitness for purpose. Year 2: Students focus on practices of inventing, creating and realising interactive multimedia; students study theories of narrative gaming, and interface designs; the course places emphasis on collaborative working; modules examine content management and the creation of dynamic material that is dependant on user histories, geographical location and display devices; students may also get the chance to work on live projects with the University's commercial or social enterprise partners. Final year: Students carry out a contextual study addressing some of the cultural and theoretical aspects of multimedia; alongside this, students undertake a project planning module, including feasibility of study of an idea and its potential audiences or markets; students also take part in a national or international student competition or take on a live project.

Students examine the creative use of digital media to produce multimedia content; students focus on effective and purposeful communication and the ways of expressing ideas, emotions and information; students learn how various multimedia artefacts can me made and used. Students develop a range of thinking and practical skills to create images, sounds and interactivity.

Расположение

Здания Университета располагаются в городах Хатфилд и Сент-Олбанс, а также в Бейфордбери (сельская полевая станция и обсерватория в пригороде Хетфорда).
Студенческий городок Havilland, инвестиции в строительство которого составили £120 миллионов, был открыт в октябре 2003 года. На этом кампусе проходят занятия по гуманитарным дисциплинам, педагогике и предпринимательству.
Университет связан с остальными Британскими городами отличной системой автомобильных и железных дорог и находится всего в 25 минутах езды на поезде от лондонской станции King’s Cross, являющейся также и станцией метро.
