The programme includes 5 modules from a specialism plus optional modules; the professional modules include: school experience (at least 24 weeks over 3 years); core modules in English, mathematics and science; foundation subjects; assessment for learning; teacher as researcher; optional modules include: special educational needs; curriculum for young children; children's literature. Level 1: Modules may include: foundation, ideas and skills; information communication technology system fundamentals; human computer interaction; programming and authoring systems. Level 2: modules may include: generic applications and effects; database systems and information management; information communication technology futures. Level 3: modules may include: information communication technology and schools; information communication technology in practice; information communication technology co-ordination in schools.

The information and communication technology (ICT) specialism explores the principles of computer systems, information and communication technology (ICT) in schools and the design of information and communication technology (ICT) based educational materials and websites; this qualification enables the student to begin the induction year of teaching, on completion of which they gain full registration with the General Teaching Council for England; this course is taught at the Scarborough campus.
