The course comprises of modules on the development of the British fisheries, the Royal Navy, and Britain's sea transport industries (shipping, shipbuilding, ports and trade); in the 1st year of the programme, attention is afforded to the 1550-1850 period, an era during which Britain's maritime activities expanded in every respect; the focus in the 2nd year is on the development of Britain's fishing, naval and sea transport interests since the mid-19th century.
