Alongside a compulsory 'core' module, students can chose from a wide range of optional modules, tailoring their degree to their own particular interests. The core module, Methods and Interpretations in Historical Research is common to all Kent Masters programmes, whether taught or research. It aims to equip students with the skills required for postgraduate study: encouraging a broader approach to evidence and interpretation, as well as considering History as a wider discipline. Optional modules include (subject to student recruitment and tutor availability): The Early Modern Town: Canterbury, an International City; Word & Image; The Image of France in English Culture, C.1500-1620; Britain and the Modern World: Imperialism, Industrialisation and Capitalism, 1800-1914; Religion and Society in Seventeenth Century England; Cities at War: The Urban Dimension of Total War; No End of a Lesson: Britain and the Boer War; War Propaganda and the Media; Vietnam War; The British Army and the Great War; From Wounded Knee to the Little Bighorn Casino; History of Science; Visualising Science; Science, Ethics and Controversy

Candidates should normally have a minimum of a 2:1 in History (or related subject) at Undergraduate level, although other applications may be considered at the discretion of the Director of Research.

This Modern History MA will bring together the world class expertise of the School and several of its specialist centres in an exciting and innovative approach to the study of History between c.1500 - 2000. Each of the modules offered on the course is the product of the research interests of at least one of our academics. The University of Kent School of History was rated second nationally in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

Расположение

Три кампуса Университета Кента в Соединенном Королевстве расположены в Кентербери, Медуэйе и Тонбридже. В состав вуза также входят европейские отделения — в Париже,Риме, Брюсселе и Афинах.

Главный кампус в Кентербери площадью более 120 га расположился в парковой зоне. Всего в 25 минутах ходьбы от университетского городка находится знаменитый старинный Кентерберийский кафедральный собор. Кентербери с уверенностью можно назвать оживленным городом с теплой и дружеской атмосферой. Отсюда можно легко отправиться в путешествие в Лондон, Францию и Бельгию. Университет обеспечивает бесплатное автобусное сообщение между кампусами в Медуэйе и Кентербери.
