When applying for admission at universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg you have to take an orientation test. Applicants with higher education entrance qualification from abroad:
•general or subject-specific German higher education entrance qualification
•school graduation that permits higher education entrance in the home country and is recognised as equal to the German higher education entrance qualification or
•assessment test (Studienkolleg (preparatory course)). German language skills: DSH 2 or TestDaF 4. Study is conducted in German and English.

Sociology in Konstanz constitutes a common Department with History and offers also Ethnology. Sociology deals with societal structures and life of people within a society. It analyses principles and processes that shape, hold together or keep apart society. Sociology is interested in a wide range of subjects, from female migrants to brokers, from the employment markets to consumer behaviour, media and educational institutions.
