Year 1: Food origins; nutrition; allergy; processing; food in society; science and politics of food; electives. Year 2: Texture and taste molecules; food analysis; microbiology; social and economic food policies; quality assurance; electives. Industrial placement students substitute some module for management or human resources; European students: spoken foreign language training. Year 3: Current topics in nutrition; food and cancer; international food sourcing and marketing; advertising and promotional management; history and development of cuisine; food chain issues; biotechnology; nutrition diet and health; electives. 4-year students substitute some of modules for: marketing; placement preparation; spoken foreign language training; placement. Year 4: Industrial placement and European students complete core food science modules substituted in Years 2 and 3.

Students may follow the 4-year European or industrial placement pathway, spending 6 months abroad or on an industrial placement in year 3; this course provides a balance of scientific and socio-economic studies of diet, nutrition and related health aspects; its breadth leads to an appreciation of the key positions of food in society, health and well-being, as well as in the manufacture, marketing and retailing of foods, and a knowledge of the appropriate law and regulations.

Расположение

Университетский городок находятся в 20 минутах ходьбы от вокзала города Лидса. Вокзал Лидса соединяет вуз со всеми крупными городами Великобритании, и имеет быстрое сообщение с Лондоном.


Лидс обслуживают два больших аэропорта: Лидс Бредфорд и Манчестер. Совершаются регулярные рейсы из множества городов Европы и мира. От аэропорта Бредфорд примерно 20 минут на такси до Университета.
