The first two years of this 4-year degree are shared with the BSc programme, the final 2 years providing more advanced training; the programme has a high level of field-based training and is specifically designed to give skills in analysis, synthesis, problem solving, research and reporting; in year 4 field classes visit the Alps and Tenerife and students work within a research group to complete a major geological research project; this involves development of research and communication skills through reports, talks, posters and web pages; this programme is recognised under the 'Accreditation of Geoscience First Degree' scheme of the Geological Society of London and is suitable for a professional career in geosciences.
