Supervision of research available in molecular and microbial genetics, cytogenetics, population genetics and natural selection; current staff research interests include: molecular genetics and ecology of bacterial heavy metal tolerance; streptomyces genetics and gene regulation; DNA repair processes in E coli, Aspergillus nidulans and streptomycetes including plasmid repair functions, cloning and biochemistry of DNA repair functions, yeast and mammalian DNA repair; aspergillus expression; genetics of colicinogenic plasmids; structure and function of eukaryotic chromosomes; evolutionary cytogenetics of plant species; cytogenetic diagnosis of pedigree cattle; molecular genetics of metal tolerance in plants and fungi; genetics of plant breeding; molecular genetics of mosquitoes; molecular markers for evaluating genetic distance.
