Proof of a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies or an equivalent final degree from a university in Germany or abroad.
At least half of the degree program (a minimum of 90 credit points) must be in a subject related to Communication Studies. Of these, a minimum of 9 credit points must be in empirical methodology. Within this statistics is obligatory, and optionally survey research, content analysis or experiment. In addition, a minimum of 10 credit points must be in empirical audience research and impact/effectiveness research. It is assumed that students have sufficient active and passive knowledge of the English language. Officially certified proof of German language proficiency at the advanced level, i.e. completed level C 1. Before enrolment you have to pass the DSH-2 exam.

Accordingly, research interest in the processes, functions and effects of the mass media and the role of its actors is growing both in the universities and the private sector. For companies, parties or nonprofit organizations, analyses of their media presence and resonance are essential today.
