General GRE test scores; GRE math subject test is encouraged. If English is not your native language, you will be required to take the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE Academic exam. The required minimum total score on the exams are: The internet-based TOEFL exam = 90 The IELTS exam = 7. A bachelor's degree (based on a four-year curriculum) completed before graduate study begins or its international equivalent with an accredited institution an average grade of B (cumulative GPA 3.0) or better.

The Department of Mathematics offers graduate training leading to the degrees of master of arts, master of science, and doctor of philosophy. A master's degree may be included or bypassed in the doctoral program. All of a student's graduate work may be done within the department or, when appropriate, may be done under the direction of an approved advisor in an allied discipline. The Department of Mathematics is housed in Phillips Hall and Chapman Hall. The Department of Mathematics offers a number of teaching assistantships and teaching fellowships each year.

The University of North Carolina is situated in Chapel Hill city of North Carolina State in USA. UNC Chapel Hill's 3.0 km2 campus over Chapel Hill's downtown area encompasses places like the Morehead Planetarium and the many stores and shops located on historic center of social life - Franklin Street. The university's campus is informally divided into three regions, usually referred to as "north campus," "middle campus," and "south campus”.
