Accounting Stage 1: During the 1st stage, students are introduced to the important conceptual issues which underpin accounting and start to learn some of the techniques and skills required; students are concerned with recording, reporting and interpreting basic financial and cost accounting information. Stage 2: This stage concentrates heavily on corporate reporting, management accounting and the role of the accountant in organisational decision-making. Stage 3: In the final stage, students study the more strategic and specialist areas of accounting and finance including financial services, banking, investment management and insurance. Film and television studies Stage 1: Provides an introduction to the theory and practice of film and television in popular culture; it looks at the history and development of the mediums themselves, as well as the way that theory has sought to understand the content, industry and audience of films and television; students learn the basics of video production, working in teams on selected projects. Stage 2: Takes a more focused look at specific genres and areas of film and television content; students also develop their knowledge of the field of popular cultural studies; they begin to hone their skills of video production with work on larger and more skills-orientated projects. Stage 3: Here, students work more independently, bringing together their work on theory and practice, undertaking written dissertation work and practical project work; they also have the opportunity to take specific modules that cater for specialised interests.

All joint Honours degrees may also be studied as major/minor combinations; students should ensure the correct UCAS code is used for the specific combination they require; accounting and finance encompasses a wide range of activities including recording and reporting financial performance, monitoring and controlling activity and resources as well as helping to make sound operational and strategic decisions; there are several specialisations such as financial services, auditing, taxation, risk management, and information systems; the course has an international focus; film and television studies is designed for students who wish to focus on the role of the moving image in the contemporary world; it provides a depth of engagement with both the theoretical and practical sides of the moving image; the course is divided across 3 stages, with students undertaking 6 modules of study at each stage.
