Stage 1: The theory modules at stage one explore classic issues in media such as the making of news, power and control in media, the role of the audience and modelling the communications process. Stage 2: Modules focus upon media history, policy and analysis and upon the very pressing concerns of media globalisation and virtual culture and the internet. Stage 3: Includes a dissertation or practical project which provides the student with an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of theory and practice relating to media in the modern world.

The media studies course aims to develop the ability to relate theoretical knowledge to practice, to offer an interdisciplinary curriculum and to develop analytical skills; the practice based modules address the areas of video work, photography and web design; there are opportunities to be involved in radio, television and newspaper production.

Расположение

Город Нортгемптон находится в центральной Англии, в часе езды от Бирмингема, Лондона и Оксфорда. Университету принадлежат два зеленых кампуса, находящихся в 6,5 км от центра города Нортгемптон. Университет расположен недалеко от основных железнодорожных и автомобильных магистралей страны, между кампусами ходят бесплатные автобусы. Два кампуса Университета – это Парк Кампус (Park Campus) в Кингсторпе – северном пригороде Нортгемптона - и Авеню Кампус (Avenue Campus), который находится немного к северу от центра города, напротив большого парка под названием Racecourse. С 1924 года на Авеню Кампусе располагается технологический колледж, вошедший в состав Университета.
