Information technologies evolve rapidly and change how businesses operate, compete, and generate value. Companies are seeking professionals who possess the unique combination of information technology and business skills to help them meet the challenges of the information economy. These professionals need to understand both the big picture of business and the role of technology in enabling business innovation. For nearly thirty years, the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business has prepared its MIS graduates to envision, evaluate, and execute technology-based solutions for critical business challenges. The 30-credit Master of Science in Management Information Systems can be completed in nine months, from August through April.

Two Pitt buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places: Allegheny Observatory (in Pittsburgh's Riverview Park on the Northside) and the Cathedral of Learning. Twenty-one of Pitt's buildings are contributing properties to the Schenley Farms-Oakland Civic Center Historic District that has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district.


The Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation has designated more than 15 Pitt buildings as Pittsburgh Historic Landmarks.
