Usually minimum lower 2nd Honours degree or equivalent in biochemistry, biology, bioscience, chemistry, medicine, pharmacy or related subject; applicants with relevant experience but without formal entry requirements may be considered for accreditation of prior learning or experience; international students with IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (213 computer-based, 80 internet-based) or higher welcomed.

The programme provides training in many issues at the forefront of biotechnology; biology, biochemistry, biophysics and biomedical science are integrated in this course; entrepreneurial skills and entrepreneurship are also developed; there is a balanced mix of biology, biochemistry, biophysics and analytical chemistry, and areas such as natural products; bioinformatics; biosensors; microbiology; and aspects of drug design and manufacture are included.
