This course focuses on small-group teaching, and students are taught by internationally renowned experts in their field; beginners and post-A level students follow separate Russian language courses tailored to their levels for 2 full years; the core programme in Russian culture and civilization complements language instruction at each level; students study up to three Slavonic languages and spend at least 1 semester in Russia during their year abroad; students’ gain a thorough grounding in all aspects of spoken and written Russian, including conversation, reading, translating and oral presentation; the course also hones students’ reading, presentation and writing skills in English.Politics The aim of the programme is to give students an in-depth understanding of politics and political issues, supported by a range of personal transferable skills, including communication and presentation skills, working in groups, writing reports and essays, gathering information and planning projects; teaching and research cover a range of topics, including political behaviour, public policy, political theory and international/comparative politics; the geographical areas covered include Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.
