This web-based modular course is developed in response to increased demand for continuing professional development by industry professionals unable to undertake a full-time course; it is hosted on a virtual learning environment using interactive animations, quizzes and exercises to reinforce learning points contained in the notes; students receive hard copies of all notes and exercises, tutor support and in-house laboratory-based practical training; practical training components may be undertaken in laboratories outwith the university if suitable facilities are available.
