The core modules are: Design studio modules from the studio options available in the 5th year of the Master's 2 lectures series (mapping architecture 1 and 2); they introduce a wide range of contemporary ideas about the built environment; field trip (recent trips): Berlin, London, Amsterdam, Florence and Marseille; special projects that introduce contextual ideas in fields: computing, urbanism, art, engineering and anthropology; optional classes.

1st degree or other qualification equivalent to an honours degree from a UK university in a relevant engineering, technology or science discipline; entry may be possible with other qualifications provided there is evidence of relevant experience, and of the capacity for postgraduate study; a limited number of competitive engineering and physical sciences research council studentships are available to UK and EU students.

Each part of the course provides an opportunity to develop projects related to the students' own interests at the frontier of architectural debate; studies are seminar, lecture and project-based and demand a high level of academic and design ability.
