The Faculty-based component is taught in 9 modules: Planning for effective teaching and learning: primary 4-7; planning for effective teaching and learning: the early years; educational studies; mathematics in the primary school; language in the primary school; environmental studies and health education; expressive arts and physical education; religious and moral education; option module.

Вступительные требования

Degree of a UK university or the CNA, plus Higher English and Standard grade mathematics at 2 or better; evidence of having worked with young people or the general public, an understanding of modern primary education and an ability to relate to people are taken into account.

The course leads to a Teaching Qualification (Primary Education) enabling students to teach in any UK or EU primary school and in many other parts of the world; it prepares students to teach the full range of the primary curriculum from nursery to primary 7; it uses participative styles of learning and encourages personal development through self-help and enquiry skills; the programme is delivered by the Faculty of Education in partnership with local primary schools; ideas discussed in the Faculty are applied in the practical situation of a school, and theory and practice are brought together to allow students to reflect on both; the course develops skills enabling students to work cooperatively with colleagues and agencies involved in education.
