Core classes: Journalism in English (writing and professional practice); print and internet production; journalism and society; specialist journalism project; optional classes (select 2): EU and UK government and public administration; scots law; options from the investigative journalism; and literary journalism programmes; the options offer students a chance to look at journalism from both practical and theoretical perspectives, deepening their understanding of the industry; students are encouraged to engage with professional and ethical debates which impact upon journalism; students are encouraged to undertake work placements, as well as use industry-standard software to produce their own newspaper and magazine; a series of guest speakers offer students insights from the industry.
