Students who are interested in biology must take BIO 120H1 – Adaptation and Biodiversity and BIO 130H1 – Molecular and Cell Biology.The Biology program requires introductory math (MAT 135H1 and 136H1 – Calculus I and II, or JMB 170Y1 – Biology, Models and Mathematics) and introductory chemistry (CHM 138H1 - Introductory Organic Chemistry and CHM 139H1 - Chemistry: Physical Principles).

The Biology programs (Specialist, Major, and Minor) are jointly offered by the departments of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) and Cell and Systems Biology (CSB). program in Biology begins with a core of courses providing students with a foundation. The remainder of the program is very open allowing students to follow their own path of study within the discipline.
