Graduate students from around the world come to study and perform research with our leading BME scholars and practioners. Our graduate students’ research training is complemented by new lab-to-classroom Immersion Learning experiences in systems bioengineering, mechanobiology, molecular imaging, and regenerative medicine. Our program has faculty pursuing research in Cardiovascular Bioengineering, Cancer Bioengineering, Biomedical & Molecular Imaging, Cellular & Molecular Bioengineering, Systems Biology & Computational Bioengineering, Musculoskeletal Bioengineering, and Tissue Engineering & Biomaterials. UVA BME consistently ranks among the top graduate programs in the nation (National Research Council, U.S. News and World Report).

At nearly 2,000 acres, the University of Virginia’s Grounds cover a large part of the City of Charlottesville. The Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) is located approximately eight miles from the University. The Charlottesville Amtrak Station is located at 810 West Main Street, approximately two miles from the University.
