Вступительные требования

Students holding a bachelor's degree in statistics or in mathematics with some scientific background are encouraged to apply. Also students holding a bachelor's degree with a natural science, social science, or engineering major and strong mathematical background are encouraged to apply. We require the general GRE which includes verbal, quantitative and analytical writing assessment. A minimum undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 on the equivalent of the last 60 semester hours (approximately two years of work) or a master's degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required. Applicants from an international institution must demonstrate strong academic achievement comparable to a 3.00 for an undergraduate or master's degree. All GPAs are based on a 4.00 scale. 4-6 year first degree, a bachelor or diploma. The required proficiency scores are: Minimum TOEFL requirement: 92 internet (iBT); 580 paper-based test (PBT) Minimum IELTS requirement: 7.0 Minimum MELAB requirement: 82

The Statistics Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison was established in 1960 by Professor George Box. The original philosophy on the organizational structure was to have most Statistics faculty in one central department but also to have faculty with interests in applications of statistics to a wide variety of scientific disciplines that would be represented in various units on campus. This philosophy continues today, with strong research and training programs covering the breadth and diversity of the subject of statistics in both theory and practice. From its inception, the department has evolved into one of the premier Departments of Statistics in the world. Our department is usually ranked among the top five to ten in the country on various measures of quality of faculty and graduate programs. Since 1963 over 300 Ph.D. degrees and over 400 Master's degrees have been granted. Our M.S. Program trains graduates for careers as statistical consultants with a balanced emphasis on technical and communication skills.

Eagle Heights and University Houses are situated just a half-mile northwest of UW-Madison’s western campus and is a community of apartment buildings nestled in 83 acres of green space on the shoreline of Lake Mendota. These neighborhoods primarily serve families, and boasts numerous picnic and playground areas, a central community center and one of the oldest community gardens in the United States. Harvey Street Apartments serves single graduate students and is located south of University Avenue, just west of campus. This quiet street is close to shops, restaurants, and the UW campus.
