First year studies explore the diverse range of public health approaches to health improvement; modules studied include the development and scope of public health, health as a social and cultural issue and environmental influences on health; second year studies combine knowledge with skills; students learn to assess the health needs of populations, develop healthy communities, apply creative approaches to public health, and begin research skills; in year three, studies relate public health policy and theory to practice, enabling students to develop areas of specific interest within the syllabus; they learn to plan and evaluate health promotion, to research population health, and explore global health issues.
