The course is delivered in a variety of ways and includes lectures; seminars; workshops; self-study and personal research; the course provides trainees with the theoretical and practical experience needed to meet the standards for qualified teacher status; the 5-11 taught course covers all subjects on the national curriculum for primary schools and pays particular attention to the core subject areas of English, mathematics, science and information communication technology; trainees are required to complete a certain number of written and practical assignments in these subjects the broader curriculum and professional values and practice; trainees are also required to pursue a specialist option which arises out of their own interests in education and this makes up the final assignment.
