Students can choose to specialise in painting and drawing, in sculpture, or in tapestry weaving, working alongside postgraduate students taking postgraduate diplomas in those 3 subjects; students will learn both new and traditional techniques at the same time as developing a critical awareness of the area in which they are specialising.

A degree or qualification at equivalent level; or attainment through portfolio development of a standard consistent with the successful completion of the 2nd year of undergraduate study: HNC; HND; DipHE in fine art or a related field; all candidates require a portfolio of work in the visual or the applied arts.

A particular emphasis is placed on the interrelation between aesthetics and visual art; enables students with existing substantial portfolios to bring an academic dimension to their work and to have this theoretical perspective integrated into their developing portfolio.
