In addition to fulfilling the entry requirements for the postgraduate diploma candidates should normally possess: A good Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject; they are also expected to have achieved a high overall grade profile throughout the 1st 1/2 of their postgraduate diploma.

Students registered on any of the following postgraduate diploma programmes may apply to transfer their registration to the Master's degree: Conservation of books and library materials; conservation of ceramics and related materials; conservation of metalwork; conservation of furniture and related objects; on successful completion of the 2nd half of the academic year, which includes finishing the postgraduate diploma while at the same time completing a modest amount of Master's introductory study, students then commence their major projects for the Master's degree.
