1st year: Professional practice portfolio 1 (including lesson planning, a scheme of work etc); managing the learning environment (concerned with disruption and communication); supporting and tutoring learners (concerned with the role of the tutor and learning support); 2nd year: professional practice portfolio 2 (including work on theory and differentiation); issues, policies and values (looking at government policy and the main issues in the sector); professional development studies (project based study to further the student's development as a teacher).
Вступительные требования
Applicants with a degree in the subject they wish to teach will be enrolled onto the PGCE pathway, and applicants with only a level 3 qualification will be enrolled onto the Cert. Ed pathway; applicants must be teaching/training post 16 students for the duration of the programme; applicants must provide evidence of between 30-60 hours of teaching in the 1st year and 60-90 hours in the 2nd year, adding up to 120 hours; this can be full or part time employment but should be paid work not voluntary; students must provide a mentor at their college/institution who is prepared to assess their teaching on 2 occasions and who is prepared to do a short on-line training course (for which s/he will be awarded a certificate); the mentor must be an experienced, qualified teacher.
