Course aims to equip students to understand the breadth and diversity of current artistic practice through practical studio-based projects; participation on the programme should prepare a student to develop a suitable application to art college by building an extensive portfolio; teaching is undertaken through a variety of means; direct demonstrations, structured workshop practice, information technology and library based research, and trips to local galleries and museums; throughout the course students will be encouraged to explore subjects in a self-motivated and creative manner; throughout the course students will participate in one-to-one and group tutorial sessions where they will be expected to present ideas and discuss on-going work; the course aims to prepare aspiring art students for either further study and progression to a higher level course or for a variety of art based employment opportunities.
