Years 1 and 2: Areas of study include: biodiversity and conservation; wildlife identification and classification; landscapes and ecosystems; principles of habitat management; biological processes; principles of habitat management; specialised modules for this event management strand include; history; development and principles of event management; planning and running an event; types of events; and contemporary issues within the events industry.

This vocational course enables students to develop the knowledge and skills in the practices required to play a full and rewarding part in the management and conservation of our natural heritage; this course provides students with an understanding of the countryside and the pressure that our flora and fauna are facing; they are introduced to concepts of biodiversity which provides the skills to manage the environment in a sustainable way; the event management modules have been developed in response to the growth of event management as a subject in its own right, within the business discipline of operations management.
