Course is designed to provide a coherent programme of professional training for those working in or wishing to work in post-16 education and training, including untrained part-time further education/higher education tutors, adult and community tutors, youth workers, fire and police officers, health professionals, industrial/commercial trainers, armed services personnel, educational support workers; the emphasis on the course is 'learning by doing' and students are given ample opportunity to develop the skills and techniques of a 'good teacher'; the academic components of the course are modular based and include elements such as: Curriculum teaching and learning methods; planning and assessing learning; plus option modules; in addition a minimum of 150 hours (over 2 years) of teaching practice must be arranged by the course member, but every help is given by the college to assist students with this.
