Adelphi students work to protect the environment around them, and their 75-acre Garden City campus is a registered member of the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta.

Among the numerous organizations available to Adelphi students, diversity organizations are some of the most popular. There are currently more than two dozen diversity-focused organizations available to interested students, centered around issues of culture and ethnicity, faith, advocacy and social action. Culturally-based fraternities, sororities and social fellowships are also available.

The Campus Recreation organization is to bring people together in ways that foster a positive and active lifestyle. They are committed to creating an atmosphere of fun that encourages students to participate in many activities. 

There are hundreds of organizations and so many events on campus. The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) office sends out a weekly e-mail every Monday to the campus with a list of every event going on that week and beyond so students can see what is going on during the day. Adelphi is also located not too far from Roosevelt Field Mall, and the university offers a free Panther Express shuttle service to take students there and bring them back to campus.

Adelphi maintains seven distinctive residential communities. The Office of Residential Life and Housing creates an integrated academic and co-curricular educational environment for the residents by providing programs, services and facilities that contribute to the intellectual, social and cultural development of students.

On campus students live in seven clean and safe residence halls. Each one is supervised by a full-time, professional director (RHD) who is committed to the concept of the residence hall as a center of learning. The RHD lives and works in the hall throughout the year and supervises a staff of trained graduate and undergraduate resident assistants (RAs).

In addition, each building has hall attendants who register guests before they may enter the building during evening and late night hours. All of the halls are coeducational by either floor or wing, have common areas with TVs, kitchenettes with ranges, microwaves and sinks, vending machines and laundry facilities.

Adelphi’s Center for Career and Professional Development is focused on student’s advancement. Its dedicated career educators specialize in student’s professional success, helping them establish leadership skills through programs tailored to them. The center helps prepare students for the changing landscapes of many professions as they become engaged in experiential education and employment opportunities.

The organization offers plenty of resources to help students research careers and prepare for a successful job search. And its workshops, career counseling services and intensive résumé assistance can put students on the competitive edge.

Total undergraduate costs for nine-month academic year, 2016–2017 are about $52,000 for a non-resident living on-campus. This sum includes tuition and fees - about $34,000 per year, books and supplies - $1,500, room and board - $14,000, personal and transportation costs - $2,500.

Adelphi has a long and impressive history of preparing students of all backgrounds through exceptional liberal arts and sciences education and professional training. This private university, the oldest institute for higher learning on Long Island, NY, was originally founded as a boys' preparatory school in 1863. It became coeducational in 1896 and now offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, post-doctoral study, and adult education programs through its main Garden City campus and at satellite campuses in Manhattan, Hauppauge, and Hudson Valley.

Adelphi was also recognized in the report’s first-ever list of colleges in its National Universities ranking category that are overperforming in ensuring student success. In November 2012, Adelphi was ranked as a Top 15 Overperformer in undergraduate academic reputation.

2016 Forbes ranking placed Adelphi 155th in Research Universities in the United States.

The most popular majors by the number of registered students are arts and sciences, health professions, business/marketing, psychology, social sciences, visual and performing arts.

U.S. News & World Report listed Adelphi as a Best College in its critique of 1,600 institutions, ranking the school in the top ten percent nationwide. Schools in the National Universities category evaluated by the publication offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and Ph.D. programs. These colleges are also noted for the commitment to groundbreaking research.

U.S. News has also named Adelphi’s College of Nursing and Public Health and School of Social Work to their Best Graduate Schools list.
