We understand that sometimes you might want a helping hand. That’s why our friendly and fantastic support network is here should you ever need it.
Whether it’s a problem with your study skills, your course, mental health or student life, our teams are always here to offer confidential support and guidance.
Each of our eight colleges has a Student Support team. The size of the teams vary depending on the size of the college, but offer every student a named contact within each team; someone who’s there to support you and who understands the individual demands required by your specific course.
You’re never alone when you’re at BIMM. Our community makes sure of that.
We work hard to make sure you have access to the support you need to succeed throughout your studies.
That’s why we have schemes in place to help you before you start and while you’re here. Our full-time team are fully trained professionals and always ready to listen, help and put in place action plans when needed.
We’re committed to a policy of equal opportunities. This means we aim to make all our services available to every student, regardless of background, culture, gender or sexuality. Discover some of the ways we help our students below.
We’re also here to help with any queries or troubles you might have about housing and funding. Our Student Services Teams have access to training and resources which gives us the ability to offer advice and guidance on life outside the college.
For example, if you have questions about your tenancy agreement, or want to make sure you’re receiving the maximum funding available to you, make an appointment to come and see us. If you hit a crisis, ask us about the BIMM Hardship Fund, which is available to students who require short-term financial help in an emergency.
At BIMM Institute, we work closely with our music industry partners and we understand what employers need; broad and flexible skills, high-quality work experience and a wide network of contacts.
When you study with us you will be encouraged to think big and take risks. Employers want to see that you can demonstrate your passion for your chosen career path, which is why all our students learn by doing.
You will have opportunities to run record labels, promote live gigs, produce TV shows, write blogs, run social media campaigns for artists and brands, and develop entrepreneurial ideas.
Every aspect of the music industry is open to our students to get involved. This is a community of learning and every day our students are out there making something happen. What will you make happen?
Industry engagement is at the centre of everything we do. It’s how we’re transforming music education, and it’s what sets us apart from everyone else.
Our music industry links are unparalleled. We’ve established exclusive industry partnerships with large businesses known the world over as well as smaller, independent companies. That way, you have the chance to experience what life is like across the music business.
You’ll feel part of the industry from day one. That’s because our industry connections are everywhere you turn. Each of our experienced lecturers is active within the contemporary music business. Our guest lecturers are some of the most influential people in the industry. And our legendary Masterclasses feature some of music’s most successful names.
At BIMM Institute, you’ll instantly join a vast network of industry peers and professionals. You can connect from the get-go and build those vital contacts before you graduate. It’s also because of our industry-focused approach that you’ll leave BIMM Institute with the experience and skills needed to get hired and succeed.
Our connections mean that our industry opportunities are unmatched. We offer work placements, graduate internships and job opportunities at some of Europe’s most reputable music companies. Single And Joint Honours
All applicants will need to submit an application through UCAS at www.ucas.com using the appropriate UCAS Course Code (which you can find on our course pages). Once your application has been received, we’ll invite you to an interview or audition.
Our interviews and auditions are conducted in a relaxed and supportive manner. They are as much about you assessing us and making sure BIMM Institute is the right place for you to study. The audition or interview also gives you another opportunity to learn more about the course you have applied for.
Part of your UCAS application is writing a personal statement. This gives us an insight into your ambitions, skills and previous experience, as well as giving you a chance to show your passion for your preferred path. For information on how to write a personal statement, check out our essential documents.
Depending on which course you choose, you may need to attend an audition, interview or submit a portfolio of work as part of your application.
We have plenty of handy resources online to help you prepare for your audition or interview. The BIMM Admissions Department will also send you preparation guidelines, which will be specifically for the course you have applied for.
