Michigan State University has over 700 registered Student Organizations; there is something for everyone here at State! Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) cover a wide range of topics and interest areas, including but not limited to: academic, business, environmental, international, political, racial/ethnic, religious, women’s interests, and sports and leisure.


Culture and entertainment

  • Broad Art Museum: committed to exploring global contemporary culture and ideas through art
  • Wharton Center for Performing Arts: four venues–Cobb Great Hall, Pasant Theatre, MSU Auditorium, and Fairchild Theatre–host a variety of cultural events
  • Breslin Student Events Center: state-of-the-art arena hosts special events such as concerts, commencements, ice shows, sporting events, banquets, conventions, and trade shows
  • MSU Museum: offers anthropological, biological, folklife, geological, and historical exhibits and programs
  • Abrams Planetarium: houses a Digistar 5 computer graphics planetarium projector and a 150-seat Sky Theater
  • Horticulture Gardens: six distinct gardens over 7.5 acres provide a living laboratory where plants and people grow together

Living on campus is the best way to make the most of your experience at MSU. When you live on, you have plenty of choices for your living environment and activities.

  • Alcohol-free halls, floors or rooms are spaces in which residents agree that alcoholic beverages will not be brought into the area, even by persons 21 years of age or older.
  • All residence halls and apartments are campus are smoke-free. Smoking is prohibited in any Residential or apartment space. Smoking is not permitted within 25 feet of the building’s entrances, outdoor air intakes, and operable windows, decks or balconies. We realize that some students are allergic to smoke and we do our best to assign students of the same smoking preference together.
  • For students desiring an atmosphere where studying is primary, designated quiet halls or floors have quiet hours, generally between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m.
  • Flexible housing allows undergraduate and graduate students to select their roommate without regard to gender.

  • One of the largest alumni groups on LinkedIn - tens of thousands of students with more joining all the time.
  • Spartan Insights webinars: Topics relating to professional development, job search strategy, talent recruitment/development, personal enrichment, technology and business trends are all covered. The webcasts are free, but registration is required in order to receive event links and reminders.
  • Our Spartans Helping Spartans blog is full of inspiration, ideas and helpful tips contributed by a diverse group of students.
  • Alumni LENS classes (online and in person), workshops and seminars related to professional and personal enrichment topics. Additionally, we collaborate with the MSU community and outside business partners to create access to networking and professional development events for MSU alumni.
