Students participate in 240 campus organizations including athletic teams, living-learning residence halls, community services, internships, and faculty researches accepting students of any major.

There is always something happening on campus and the school sends out emails every week with all of the events. There are also tons of clubs and activities to do on campus. You can even start your own club If you want to. Besides, there is a bus system that goes free (for students) to the near Northampton all the time which is a great town. 

University of Massachusetts offers housing services including redial services for students with learning disabilities, academic/career counseling, employment services for current students to find part-time positions, job placement for graduates to find full-time employment, daycare on campus for children of students and library on campus.

Housing statistics says that about 99% of first-year and 58% of all undergraduates live in college housing, which means this option is very popular among students.

According to 2056 statistics, 90% of students are employed, freelancing, or continuing their education six months after graduation. 

In 2016, estimated total costs for out-of-state students living on campus are $47,000 per year. This sum includes tuition and fees ($32,400), room and board ($12,400), books and supplies ($1,000), estimated personal and transportation expenses ($1,500) per year. Besides, application fee costs $70 for undergraduates and $40 for graduate students.

The University of Massachusetts is the five-campus public university system of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The system includes four universities, a medical school, and a satellite campus.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is the flagship and largest school in the UMass system, offering a full range of undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. Like many colleges and universities, the Massachusetts Agricultural College (as it was originally called) in Amherst was founded as a land-grant college in 1863, receiving initial start-up funding as part of the Morrill Land-Grant Colleges Act. It became "Massachusetts State College" in 1931 and "University of Massachusetts" in 1947.

In 2016 The Times Higher Education ranked UMass 165 globally and 57 nationally.

Among UMass notable alumni are astronaut Catherine Coleman, former Global co-CEO of Deutsche Bank Anshu Jain, former FBI head James Kallstrom, actor Richard Gere and many others.
