Degree or equivalent in architecture or in history of art/architecture; other subjects such as literature and philosophy may also provide a suitable background; students without degree qualifications may be offered a place on the basis of a short essay; portfolio and an interview.

The course takes a current perspective on issues of criticism and interpretation in architecture and on recent architectual ideas; it has an architectural introduction: How to read and write architectual texts; including contributions from journalists as well as historians; the focus of the programme is on building and developing innovative ways of writing about architecture.
