The Department of Sociology offers the master of arts and doctor of philosophy degrees in sociology. Students receive training that equips them for careers in both teaching and research. All sociology students take basic coursework in sociological theory, research methods and statistics, and substantive areas. The program emphasizes balanced training and the integration of theory, method, and substantive knowledge. The University of North Carolina is situated in Chapel Hill city of North Carolina State in USA.
