Work in university is closely related to school experience and includes the following; school and professional studies; educational information and communications technology; English language studies; environmental studies; expressive arts; mathematics; religious and moral education; a number of cross-curricular issues is also covered including; equal opportunities; personal and social development; enterprise education; the European dimension and additional learning needs; the programme concludes with a one-week induction to the probationary period.

Applicants should hold a UK university degree or a degree of an equivalent standard from an institution outside the UK; along with passes in higher English at grade C or above and standard grade mathematics at credit level or equivalent.

The programme is structured on a full-time modular basis around the following key areas; school experience; school and professional studies; the programme as a whole has a strong practical bias; with just over 50% of students' time being spent on school placements; this is organised in 2 blocks of 8 and 10 weeks duration (total 18 weeks) in the following order; preschool and early stages; middle and upper primary;
