Official high school transcript. The SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT is required of all undergraduate applicants. Applicants whose first language or language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following English language proficiency examinations:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – Internet-based 100
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – computer-based 230
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 7.0
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) 70. The English language proficiency examination requirement will be waived if a student has scored 33 or above on the SAT Reading Test (administered March 2016 and later), or above a 26 on the ACT English section.

ANTHROPOLOGY is the study of human diversity in all times and places. It brings together perspectives from the sciences and humanities, and from non-Western as well as Western societies, to illuminate different aspects of the human past, the human body, and contemporary social life. Global perspectives, field research and experiential learning, and concerns with justice, ethics, and social well-being are hallmarks of anthropology. Vanderbilt’s faculty have a strong research focus on Latin America and historically marginalized groups, especially indigenous people.
