KWU strives to support students in achieving their personal and career goals. Read further to explore the key services and benefits we offer to students and alumni.
· The academic and professional success of our students is our top priority! All KWU students are assigned a Personal Learning Advisor (PLA) who is responsible for supporting and assisting students throughout their educational journey. We believe online learning does not have to be a lonely endeavor and we provide a supportive learning environment.
· Students first meet with their Personal Learning Advisor (PLAs) upon acceptance into a KWU program of study. Together, they create an Individualized Learning Plan. The plan aligns the student’s career goals and academic interests. It takes into consideration other life priorities including work, family, friends, hobbies, etc. This document is used to record the student’s progress and achievement throughout their program of study at KWU.
· Personal Learning Advisors motivate students to stay on task, address challenges, and complete their educational journey in a timely way. PLAs frequently reach out to students to advise on how to effectively manage or overcome organizational issues or personal time constraints that could prevent them from successfully completing their degree program.
KWU students benefit from 24/7 access to KWU systems*. Throughout their period of study at KWU, students will use the following technology systems:
KWU Student Portal
Enroll in new classes, review your final grades and academic progress, check the status of tuition payments, and communicate with KWU administrators.
KWU Online Learning Platform
Access your course content, upload assignments, interact with other students in online forums, and communicate with course professors.
EBSCO and LIRN E-libraries
Access E-books and journal articles for select courses. Students working on specific assignments, projects or dissertations may also use these databases for research.
*Students will be notified in advance of any planned systems maintenance.
Key West University offers 100% online degree programs. Residential classes are not offered as part of our curriculum, therefore, KWU does not offer student housing or any accommodation services.
KWU staff are dedicated to helping students attain their career goals. Career planning services and employment skills assistance are provided to all enrolled students and graduates without additional charge. Career planning sessions, online resume writing workshops, seminars on job search techniques, and mock-interviews help prepare KWU students to accelerate their professional growth in the workforce.
Universities, including KWU, cannot guarantee job placement for students and alumni. Successful job placement is dependent on many factors, including the motivational level of the individual, and economic conditions in the geographic area(s) where the student is seeking employment.
International students who have completed two trimesters of study at KWU will have the opportunity to apply for participation in a U.S. based internship program. Interested students should contact the Admissions team at least four months in advance of the date they would like to begin their internship. Internship applicants must be in good academic standing and have no outstanding financial obligations with KWU. The location and duration of such programs may vary depending on the student’s interest, their academic standing, and prior work experience. Additional expenses associated with participating in the internship program are not included in KWU tuition rates. Visa support is provided for qualified students by an external party.
