The University of Kentucky offers a variety of choices to students. The choices range from seven main dining facilities, 23 residence halls and numerous recreation facilities including athletic facilities to student organizations, religious groups, Greek-letter organizations and intramural competitions/campus recreation.

The university provides several facilities for unwinding from the daily campus grind. The Johnson Center, a 12,000-square-foot (1,100 m2) two-story structure which is located at South Campus, features basketball, volleyball, badminton, racquetball and wallyball courts, weight-lifting facilities and rock climbing walls. 

It is also the home for some group fitness classes utilizing a large aerobics studio. The Lancaster Aquatic Center located next to the Johnson Center was opened in 1989. It features 10 lanes for lap swimming and has shallow space for other water activities. The Seaton Center features facilities for basketball, volleyball, badminton, jogging, squash, table tennis and racquetball.

Outside the classroom, University of Kentucky students can get involved by joining nearly 350 clubs, Greek life or the Kentucky Kernel student newspaper. Often called the "Horse Capital of the World" because of its race tracks and stables, Lexington can also be a source of fun for students who can shop, golf, tour a museum, browse the farmer's' market or spend a day at the horse track.

The University of Kentucky offers wide variety of housing options including a number of residence halls and the Living - Learning Program. UK motivates students to live on campus as those who take advantage of living on campus are more successful at adjusting to college, do better academically, have higher GPAs and graduate sooner than students who live off-campus.  

In addition, only those students who live on-campus have the unique opportunity to learn in and out of the classroom by participating in the Living-Learning Program.  Although UK students are not required to live on-campus.

Room types include traditional for 2 students, 4 person suite, 2 bedroom suite, 2 bedroom deluxe suite, 4 bedroom suite, 2 bedroom apartment and 4 bedroom apartment.

Students at UK can make the most of their studies by visiting the James W. Stuckert career center, which helps them find internships and jobs. Preparing students for a lifetime of career possibilities through an educational journey that fosters engagement, reflection and holistic development while connecting passion to purpose.

Any undergraduate student currently enrolled in a degree program at the University of Kentucky and alumni up to 6 months are eligible for unlimited use of career services including individual appointments, mock interviews, workshops, on campus interviewing and the use of the career resource library.
