Vibrant SMU campus is small enough for students to really know professors, subjects and make lifelong connections and large enough to stretch mind in a variety of academic disciplines and campus activities. Opportunities also include housing and meals, sports and wellness centers, libraries and lots of others.
The campus is a home to the George W. Bush Presidential Center, which comprises a Bush administration museum, library and public policy institute, and frequently hosts speakers.
SMU provides a complete college experience that will connect students to a spirited student life, a promising career and the opportunities of living and learning in dynamic Dallas. With nearly 200 campus organizations, there are countless options to get involved on campus and develop leadership skills.
On campus there are many clubs and organizations that fit a variety of different interests, from different groups concerning culture, politics, sport, and multitude of other interests. SMU boasts nearly 200 student organizations, including academic, professional, fraternal, sporting, ethnic themed, religious, service, and political diversity groups. About 2,000 students are involved in SMU Greek life, and all students can participate in annual events such as the Festival of Lights, a candlelit assembly on the school’s Main Quad each December, and the Mane Event, a celebration of spring complete with bands and food.
Off campus, Dallas is a sizable American city. There are theaters, restaurants, the site of the Kennedy assassination. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area there is the Cowboys Stadium, Six Flags, lakes, cultural centers, etc. Outdoor activities are plentiful in Dallas, a city that boasts an average of 232 days of sunshine a year. Students can check out the Dallas International Film Festival, which draws 40,000 viewers annually, or explore the more than 400 parks in the city.

The SMU Career Development Centre provides programs and services that enhance students’ personal and professional development. For example, through credit- bearing modules on personal and professional development, through non-credit bearing certificates in skills for working life and in work-related learning, though personalised career coaching services and through skills development workshops in areas such as effective presentation skills, teamwork and leadership, emotional intelligence and projecting a professional image.
